International Electoral College: Yes, you did see Sarah Palin in Saudi Arabia

The “International Electoral College” is an election project from The Takeaway, in collaboration with Global Voices Online, that highlights bloggers around the world talking about the U.S. elections.

Cross-posted on American Bedu. Carol Fleming blogs from Saudi Arabia.

Today the election results will become known as Americans go out in masses to make history with this election. America will either have its first African-American President in Barack Obama or will have its first female Vice President in Sarah Palin. I pray we will welcome in Barack Obama.

However this past weekend I learned that Sarah Palin did indeed make a surprise appearance in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It seems there was an exclusive Halloween party hosted and held for a group of young Saudi women. The theme was that the women had to attend dressed up as a well-known character. Interestingly the most popular character these Saudi women chose to mime was none other than Sarah Palin! Those who chose to come dressed as Sarah Palin all tried to outdo each other with the trademark up-do hair do and glasses and high-pitched squeaky voice.

This just further reaffirms for me why we cannot afford to see John McCain and Sarah Palin in the White House. The Leaders of America should be individuals held in high respect and not subjects of ridicule and folly.
